We've slipped into a bit of a nice routine this week that I'm very much enjoying. Routines with babies aren't much of a thing, always changing from day to day, week, or month. Hazels slept in until about 8:30 (9:30 today!!) all this week, which is a really nice change from the 6 or 7am wake up calls she was doing for a few weeks there. We usually lay around in bed for a while, chatting about nonsensical things and holding off getting up for as long as possible.
Once we're up she wants to be in my arms for a little bit which is nice, I usually head right for the kitchen to start on some breakfast. Throw on some oatmeal or toast, boil the kettle for coffee and go make the bed. I have this thing with making the bed, I just have to. I feel like our room is a total mess if it's not made. Head back to the kitchen and put her in the high chair. Finish up breakfast and sit down to eat. Her favourite things are oatmeal or plain yoghurt. I think she's starting to warm up to food, she loved it at first, and then wouldn't eat anything for about a month, but now she's eating a few times a day, usually when I eat. I'm starting to just give her little pieces of what I'm having, or purees I have on hand.
One thing I found super helpful at the beginning was freezing homemade purees in Ikea ice cube trays. I have the green ones that are big squares, I cant find them on their site right now though. (They fit about 1.5 tbsp in each square). I still have a ton in the freezer I can pull out for her if what we're eating won't work for her. It's been so handy, I made a bunch from the Baby Foodie blog, and will pull out 2 or 3 different ones to mix and match the flavours.
I would love any tips on feeding littles! If you have any advice, websites, or blogs that have helped you, send them my way! She's loves feeding herself, so I'm trying to find things that are easy to give her.
